2011 ... With all the changes to USA-Swimming, USMS and permitting requirements ... all but the 'Aumakua and Maui Channel Swims have been cancelled this year.  Aluminum Man is cancelling next year and the foreseeable future due to ... challenges ... with Maui South Parks.  MAGSA, Masters, and Hawaiian Age Group swimming are reviewing Open Water events, standards and improving some things for future events.

AGE GROUP + MASTERS EVENT The Maui Summer Pentathlon is a USMS Masters meet intermingled with a USA-S swim meet alternating through 5 events: 50 Fly, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Free and 100 IM (25's for 8-Under).  Previous year results can be found at the MDSC Results Page.

The idea of a Pentathlon is to swim every event and add up the times.  Warm-ups and warm-downs are kept separate between USMS and USA-S swimmers.  The event is one to show swimming as a sport for life ... and for families that everyone can participate in.  Age group entries are handled by the MAGSA age group chair with Team Manager - Teams send in their entries.  The list of events is available for Team Manager, and on the last page of the Meet Notice.  Masters entries are handled by filling out the linked 2011 form and sending to our club address.  You can fill out the form on your computer, print it neatly, and send in with payment and a copy of your USMS card.  Swimmers must be registered either with USMS or USA-Swimming to participate.

2010 Entry Form 1.2-mile Ocean Swim from Hanakao'o (Canoe) Beach to Kaanapali Beach (Hula Grill) $20 postmarked by a week before; $25 after.  Includes after-swim buffet at Hula Grill and a T-shirt.  Lahaina Swim Club (USA-S) puts on this swim as a fundraiser.  Contact Paula Pope 661-7255. The 11th annual Black Rock Challenge Kapalua Fun Swim; Sunday July 25, 2010.  2010 Results!

In 2010, this race moved to Kahekili Beach (old Airport Beach) for start and finish to black rock and back.  Maui Masters Swim Club sponsors this ~1 (this year 1.4ish) mile ocean race.  2007-9 Kapalua Results can be found on our MDSC Results page.  As co-sponsors with other swims, the Black Rock 2010 entry form was put here for convenience.  Like the other forms on this page, open, fill out on your computer, print and send it in (or bring it with you to the race). New Black Rock Course Map Old Kapalua Course Map.

Valley Isle Masters Swimmers sponsors this event benefitting South Maui Sharks Swim age group Swim Team.  This is a "down the coast" straight line swim from Keawakapu to Polo beach ... along the same path as the Maui Coast Relays (see map above).  Age Group and Masters entries are handled with this linked Entry Form.  Swimmers must be registered with USMS or USA-S to participate.
